Calculation of an association between a characteristic
|15 credits or more/ semester||Less than 15 credits/ semester||Total|
|Work 24 hours or less per week||11||15||26|
|Work More than 24 hours per week||10||20||30|
- Taking 15 or more credits among those who work 24 hours/week or less:
- 11/26*100= 42.3%
- Taking 15 or more credits among those who work more than 24 hours/week:
- 10/30*100= 33.3%
- 3/33.3= 1.3
- Interpretation: Students who are working 24 hours or less per week are 1.3 times more likely to take 15 credits or more in a semester than those who work more than 24 hours per week.
- The reason I have decided to choose this association because I wanted to see if those who work more hours are taking more credits or not, and I knew they would not. For instance, I am taking 21 credits this semester and I stopped my volunteering hours because I was not able to do them together and succeed. Moreover, students will not be able to manage between more hours and more credits together, because of the matter of time management. Therefore, my results showed exactly what I have expected.
