Inferno reflects hell in Italian. The poem was written in the fourteenth century by Dante Alighieri in Divine Comedy. The poem describes Dante’s journey guided by Virgil and Roman through hell (Trombley). Hell is represented with nine circles located within the earth of suffering. The Divine Comedy allegorically identifies with the journey taken by soul towards God. Inferno in the poem describes rejection and recognition of sin. The nine circles identifies with Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Anger, Heresy, Violence, Fraud and Treasury (Alighieri).
