Part A: Research


Research programs that will allow them to summit and return safely.  
Find a program online that has already produced results (successful summits). 

Show that program and cite the online resource.
Outline your plans to help the clients reach their goals.  If you think that minor tweaks would improve the program for your clients then discuss the tweaks and cite the references to support these changes.


Show details of the FITT formula with respect to the program.
Show adaptations that you would want to see and adaptations that you must see.  Refer to the textbook for CV adaptations that enhance the possibility of summiting.  Discuss the role of anaerobic and aerobic conditioning in this training.
Discuss exercise at altitude; what training must be present in the program and why.
Discuss any program must-sees for older women and youth for muscle conditioning and high altitude trekking.
Discuss safety and hazards that your clients may encounter exercising at altitude.  
Research online about tragedies on Kilimanjaro.  What happened? Was it due to being ill prepared or just the dangers of exercise at altitude?  What measures will you take to avoid your clients being part of the statistics?  Note: People have succumbed to acute altitude sickness on Kilimanjaro.

Part B: Training
Discuss the training program you have decided on.
Show the overall program components with the must see adaptations in a chart.
Show a detailed workout schedule for the first week of the final month before departure in a chart.
Discuss what you see as the main barriers to success in this program and what you will do to help your clients overcome these barriers.
Discuss the general advice and specific performance tips you will give to clients on staying healthy over the duration of the climb.
