Many college students say that self-motivation is one of the most difficult challenges in online courses. Identify one thing that you think can help online students to stay motivated with their course work. It can be a situational factor (e.g. having a study buddy, easy access to the library, pressure from family, promotion opportunity that depends on degree completion, etc.), personality trait (e.g. conscientiousness, ambitiousness), or any other factor that you believe increases students’ motivation in online courses. Then, design and describe an experiment or a correlational study that tests whether or not the factor you identified is truly effective in increasing students’ motivation. Please make sure to describe the details of your study. For example, you must identify an independent and dependent variables, experimental and control groups, as well as how you manipulate and measure your variables if you design an experiment.
