The ‘Sources of Soviet Conduct’ is a very powerful piece of writing by George Kennan and was a major contribution towards the understanding of a number of political realities that were witnessed right after the end of the Second World War (Miscamble 113). Being an Award wining writer, Kennan has provided a useful picture in regard to the Soviet Leadership and how to manage it regarding the situation at hand (Kennan 67). For example the four months in which the Bolshevik revolution was realized and it is evident that the departure of Russia from the powers that were involved in war had set a stage for future relations coming in between the major two superpowers that were now emerging (Miscamble 46).

In the article, Kennan tries to analyze the ideological concepts that made the Soviet leaders rise to power and this is where Marxian ideology is mentioned but this has not matured enough yet (Kennan 88). The issue of communism has been explored hear widely and it is through this that the issue of relating this with the Truman Doctrine comes up. Truman Doctrine was established during the reign of US President Harry S. Truman and it addressed the general position in the Cold War period in connection to the Soviet Union and other power struggles in Asia and Europe. The US did what it to stop the spread of communism by giving financial and military assistance to other countries. The description that can be gotten from the article about the Soviet leaders is therefore correct based on the efforts that the US took to counter their effect that was very strong. The communism was spreading at a very high rate and it had to be stopped in a way (Kennan 124).
