The Human Short and Long Term Memory

The Human Short and Long Term Memory

The human modal model is one of the most significant models of the brain to ever exist. It initially depicted that the brain is divided into two main parts, the short and long term memory. After studies had been made another third category of the brain was later discovered and this is what is today known as the sensory memory. The short term memory is a memory system with a limited storage capacity in which information is stored for a relatively short period, but usually longer than in the sensory memory. The long term memory on the other hand is a memory system with a wide storage capacity in which information is stored for a relatively longer period (Atkinson, 1968).
