What kinds of things can researchers do to help make sure Type II error is avoided?

What kinds of things can researchers do to help make sure Type II error is avoided?.

One thing I am not sure about is how to calculate the significance level at alpha .05. and how do you check the critical value?

 

As we learned in this discussion, it is easy to minimize the risk of Type I error just by setting a lower alpha level – piece of cake!  Minimizing the risk of Type II errors is not quite so simple.

What kinds of things can researchers do to help make sure Type II error is avoided?
